On Thursday, April 9, 2026, the Académie Spatiale d’Île-de-France and the OVSQ are co-hosting an event whose highlight will be a live broadcast of the radio contact established by Paris-Saclay University with Sophie Adenot, a French astronaut currently aboard the International Space Station.

This event is co-organized by the Académie Spatiale d’Île-de-France and the Observatoire de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

* For your information: Live contact with space → ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) exchange with astronaut Sophie Adenot. Amateur radio operators play a key role in communicating with the International Space Station. The astronauts themselves are often amateur radio operators, and thanks to the ARISS program, live contacts are regularly established between the ISS and Earth, particularly with schools and the general public.

The radio contact will last about ten minutes and will take place as the ISS passes over French territory. During the session, university students as well as students from the Albert Camus Middle School in La Norville (Essonne) will ask Sophie Adenot their questions. These students have been preparing for this for several weeks as part of their school’s space education program.

The event will be streamed live on the Université Paris-Saclay YouTube channel, as well as at several campus locations, including the UVSQ campus in collaboration with the Space Academy and the UPEC campus. The recording and streaming will be handled by students in the Professional Bachelor’s Program in Sound and Image Technology at the IUT de Cachan.

A project made possible by an incredible collective effort, notably involving Paris-Saclay University, students from the Cachan University Institute of Technology (IUT), amateur radio operators from the F5KEE club, the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES), the Essonne Department, OSUPS (Observatory of Universe Sciences at Paris-Saclay University), the French Astronomical Society, the Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Observatory, and the Academie Spatiale d’Île-de-France.

Le jeudi 9 avril 2026, l’Académie Spatiale d’Île-de-France et l’OVSQ co-organisent un évènement dont le point d’orgue sera la retransmission en direct du contact radio établi par l’Université Paris-Saclay avec Sophie Adenot, astronaute française actuellement à bord de la Station Spatiale Internationale.

* Pour information : contact en direct avec l’espace → échange ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) avec l’astronaute Sophie Adenot. Les radioamateurs et radioamatrices jouent un rôle clé pour communiquer avec la Station spatiale internationale. Les astronautes eux-mêmes sont souvent radioamateur·rices, et grâce au programme ARISS, des contacts en direct sont régulièrement établis entre l’ISS et la Terre, notamment avec des écoles et le grand public.

Le contact radio durera environ dix minutes et aura lieu lors du passage de l’ISS au-dessus du territoire français. Pendant cet échange, des étudiantes et étudiants de l’université mais aussi des élèves du collège Albert Camus de La Norville (Essonne) poseront leurs questions à Sophie Adenot. Ces élèves s’y préparent depuis plusieurs semaines dans le cadre des classes Espaces de leur établissement.

L’évènement sera retransmis en direct sur la chaîne YouTube de l’Université Paris-Saclay, ainsi que sur plusieurs campus, notamment ceux de l’UVSQ et de l’UPEC avec l’Académie Spatiale. La captation et la retransmission seront assurées par les étudiantes et étudiants de la licence professionnelles Techniques du son et de l’image de l’IUT de Cachan. 

Un projet rendu possible grâce à une mobilisation collective incroyable, notamment avec l’Université Paris-Saclay, les étudiants de l’IUT de Cachan, les radioamateurs du club F5KEE, le CNES, le Département de l’Essonne, OSUPS (Observatoire des Sciences de l’Univers de l’université Paris-Saclay), la Société astronomique de France l’Observatoire de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines et l’Académie Spatiale d’Île-de-France.
